The Northern Clinical Training Network (NCTN) vision is 'better health for northern Australia through northern-based medical training and research'. The Network brings together key stakeholders who are committed to producing a fit-for-purpose medical workforce via a northern Australian 'pipeline' of medical education and training that:
- extends from the clinical education of medical students to training of junior doctors to Fellowship training in a medical specialty and on to continuing professional development;
- is based in and networked across northern Australia, with linkages to southern population and referral centres as needs dictate;
- is supported by research and scholarship that is informed by the priority needs of northern Australian communities.
The growing list of NCTN stakeholders seek to support the efforts of everyone involved at each stage of medical education and training in the north, while working with policy-makers, health care providers, community organisations, professional bodies and specialist medical Colleges to achieve our aims.
